Back in the days of using a java or symbian phone, you can agree with me that configuring your phone for internet connectivity was very complex to an extent that you will need an IT guru to configure it for you.
what is APN?
APN simply stands for Access Point Name. APN is a gateway that stands between GPRS, 3G, 4G. It can be changed or configured by adding a new APN profile with information from the carrier.
How do I configure MTN browsing on my Android?
1. Goto Settings
2. Click on network connection
3. Select new APN and use the settings below:
Account Name: MTN GPRS (can be anything)
Port:
Username: web
Password: web
Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

You can automatically set your smart phone for internet by sending the word; SETTINGS TO 3888. If this did not work use the settings above to configure your smart phone manually.
How do I configure AIRTEL browsing on my Android?
1. Goto Settings
2. Click on network connection
3. Select new APN and use the settings below:
Name: any name
APN(Access Point): internet.ng.airtel.com
username: internet
password: interent
all other fields should be left unchanged except in the case of:
Authentication type: PAP or CHAP should be selected.
